Lionel Messi is expected to return to Paris Saint-Germain for Saturday’s Ligue 1 match against Ajaccio after serving a club-imposed ban for an unapproved travel to Saudi Arabia.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner missed last weekend’s victory in Troyes due to responsibilities in his position as a Saudi tourist ambassador.
The Argentine later apologised to the club and his teammates, and he returned to PSG training on Monday, but his time at the Parc des Princes is coming to an end.
Following two underwhelming seasons in France, Messi appears ready to play in Saudi Arabia next season as part of a mega-deal that would see him follow arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo to the Gulf country.
Messi, who turns 36 next month, will sign a “huge” deal with an undisclosed club, according to a source close to the discussions this week.
“Messi is set in stone. He’ll play in Saudi Arabia next season,” a source stated on the condition of anonymity.
“The deal is outstanding. It’s enormous. “We’re just finalising a few minor details,” said the person, who was not permitted to speak to the media.
